Bayındır HealthCare Group who is continuing its activities with its vision of being a reference center in health has become the first signatory in 2005 and has opened its Bone Marrow Transplantation Center. The Center is providing service to many patients from Turkey and the region along with patients coming from abroad. The center which possesses the best transplantation centers conditions, has been equipped with all means to hold the rate of infection which is the most important threat in this field at the lowest level.
The most important detail in bone marrow transplantation is the protection of the patients being treated from infections. For this, the filter system which provides the steril air in the patients room is very important. In our Center, an advanced climatization system named ‘’hepafilter’’ which cleans the particles in the air is being used. Due to this system since the air in the patient rooms and also in corridors is being kept sterile by hepafilter, it is being fed by air continuously sterilized from micro organisms and thus the risk of carrying infection to the patient is considerably reduced..
Bone Marrow Transplantation Center of Bayındır Hospital which has been designed to provide a perfect transplantation process from technical equipment to architectural design, allows the patients being treated to carry out all of their process within this area and receive all of the services within the same unit. At the start of the design of the Center, it has been structured on the answers of the querry of how should a bone marrow transplantation unit and how should a stem cell freezing laboratory be. In other words it possesses an important superiority compared with the samples transformed into bone marrow transplantation centers by modification or reorganization. This creates also great differences in both transplantation processes and also supplementary maintenance and treatment. Our rooms have been designed by taking into consideration the comfort of our patients. Because the patients who receive bone marrow transplantation stay in the room for an average of one month. Therefore, the rooms should be large, refreshing and spacious. Our rooms have been designed by considering the details such as panorama, decoration, internet services for the patient to pass time comfortably and peacefully as much as possible.
In Turkey where only 1000 bone marrow transplantations are being performed annually, nearly 3000 people need transplantation. Bayındır Hospital Söğütözü Bone Marrow Transplantation Center where bone marrow transplantation is realized to 12 patients at the same time plays a great role in meeting this requirement. Along with medical services at International Standards, provision of all other services required by the patients all together at the Center, provides considerable contribution to the life quality of the patients. The opportunity of realizing all of the treatment period of the patients within the multi-disciplinary structure of Bayındır Medical Group and to reach immediately to doctor of every specialization when required is possible at the Center. Special partitions for the doctors, nurses and patient relatives for sterilization from infections they may carry from outside is available at the Center. Bone Marrow Transplantation Center provides service to many patients with different diseases such as lymphoma (hematologic lymph cancer), myeloma (hematologic bone cancer caused by plasma cells), acute leukemia and chronical leukemia, aplastic anemia.
One of the important details during Bone Marrow (Allogenic) Transplantation duration from brother/sister is the necessity of controlling the reaction of the donor to the receiver and this could considerably be reduced. Bone marrow transplantation is realized in two methods: one of them is bone marrow transplantation from the patient himself in other words ‘’autology’’ and the other is bone marrow transplantation from brother/sister or someone outside of relationship in other words ‘’allogenic’’. When transplantation is to be made from the patient himself, it is necessary to cure the patient first. The patient is cured by appropriate treatment method determined by the doctor for this purpose. In the latter stage stem cell is accumulated by provision of some medication, later passed through some processes at the laboratory and then frozen and saved. The freezing process should be realized without error in order to save the stem cells alive. We are realizing this process in our laboratories under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) conditions which is a standard applied in the world.
We are targeting to increase systemically the capacity of Bayındır HealthCare Group, Bone Marrow Transplantation Center and like in all other functions of the Bayındır HealthCare Group, to display activity not only in Turkey but as a regional and global center.
