Check-up

Why Have a  Check-Up?

General health control (check-up) is a health screening method that must be performed for everybody once a year even without any complaints or diseases.

The aim is to keep individual healthy by taking necessary precautions before a disease occurs. After the occurrence of disease the treatment is more expensive and regaining the old performance of the body is more difficult as the health status is deteriorated. Thus, even there is no health complaint every individual must periodically apply to a physician and have a check up.

The early diagnosis is essential especially in coronary heart diseases, cancer, hypertension and many other diseases for both life span and life quality. There is misbelieving to think that these diseases are  seen in advanced ages. However in our country there are patients who have heart attack at their twenties. Early diagnosis and treatment is very important for diseases such as diabetes and hypertension that are progressing insidiously and deteriorating vital organs such as liver, kidneys and brain without any signs or symptoms.

A sign (fatigue, headache) that you do not consider important may be a precursor of a very important disease.

Your physician may go out of check-up package and refer you to another department after evaluating all extensive physical examination, medical history and tests performed during the check up. In our hospitals check-up is started with a program that is suggested by worldwide authors and continues dynamically. For example, if there is a suspicion or diagnosis of heart disease as a result of the program, consultancy requested from Cardiology Department. If required, it can be extended to angiography and after this angioplasty or bypass surgery. Of course we do not wish any of this happen for any of our patients, however with the help of this a patient may be saved from a surprise heart attack and heart tissues are not damaged.

If you are planning a healthy future for yourself you must attend a check-up program once a year. Check-up polyclinic is run by Internal Medicine Department in our hospital and will be happy to serve you.
